“HANGAR” DE CASTELLI

A traveling stand, an hangar, a large origami in oxidised aluminium. This is the image chosen by De Castelli for the Salone del Mobile in Milan and Maison&Objet 2013. “Bend the metal to the needs of different spaces and uses, shape it according to the tastes and desires, using technology with creativity and research, design culture and manual skills, knowledge of the materials and love to capture its expressive possibilities.” This is the idea behind the project for the stand. Broken lines go to create a minimal and asymmetrical shape that enhances the oxidised aluminium shell. A novelty for De Castelli, this material is very flexible in its use and is applicable both indoor and outdoor. Finishing created by Roberto Santi, architect and international designer for De Castelli. This natural oxidation of the material is an alternative to the Cor-ten; it is lighter in visual appearance, in fact the tones recall the clouds of a leaden sky and its weight is almost three times less than steel. Born from the constant search for new variations and sensory perceptions of metals, the oxidised aluminium recalls the concrete in its color and its shades, sometimes deceiving and surprising the observer. The external solution chosen for the De Castelli stand are panels of various heights and widths, which set up a black metal skeleton, hiding to the observer the different atmosphere that he will find inside. A cozy, homely atmosphere where the De Castelli novelties find their space. Common thread with the structure is the floor in black iron that emphasize the warmer tones of oxidized brass and iron, used for the products inside the stand.
