GOLDEN BOX

Arzignano, Italy, 2024

GOLDEN BOX

The project tells the story of a golden object placed in a small 20th century apartment with the aim of abolishing the corridor and rethinking the living space. The clients were looking for a petit refuge – a reference to the renowned experiences of Prouvé, Le Corbusier and Perriand and their small living arrangements – where they could disconnect from the frenzy of everyday life. It presents itself as a sort of treasure chest containing all the necessary functions, such as the kitchen cabinet, the sleeping area, the bathroom and the relaxation area. The preciousness of the device lies in AMAA’s research on particular metals such as brass. De Castelli has developed a customized finish on the brass, oxidized and then stabilized, for each individual slab: a single precious material then envelops the volume, protecting and revealing, when appropriate, the internal space.
